
Angela McConnell, Board Chair
As former CEO for the Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View, California, Angela successfully completed a $12 million capital campaign to fund the school’s first permanent facility. She graduated with a B.A. degree from Manhattanville College in 1985. She received her master's degree in Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco in 1995. Angela has been a member of the National Society of Fundraising Executives in Silicon Valley, and Leadership Mountain View, Class of 1993. She served as vice chair of the YMCA, El Camino, and has been a board member of the Arts Council Silicon Valley, the Krause Center for Innovation at Foothill College, the Institute for Nonprofit Organization Management at the University of San Francisco, and the Support Network for Battered Women. The Association of Fundraising Professionals honored Angela as Professional Fundraiser of the Year in 2006. She joined The Art of Yoga Project’s Board of Directors in December, 2008.
Dede Barsotti, Treasurer
Dede is the Administrative Partner of Crosspoint Venture Partners, a leading venture capital firm based in Woodside, CA. She has twenty-five years of experience in a wide range of business areas, including finance and accounting, strategic planning, and investor relations. Dede is on the Board of Silicon Valley Social Ventures (SV2), a venture philanthropy initiative that provides grants and technical assistance to nonprofits, where she serves as Vice Chair of Finance. She joined The Art of Yoga Project's Board of Directors in February 2007, and has also served as a volunteer for the Center for a College Education and the Menlo Park Presbyterian Church. Dede has a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley.
Jennifer Friedman, Secretary
Jennifer is a partner in the law firm of Jorgenson, Siegel, McClure & Flegel, LLP, where she concentrates her practice in estate planning, trust, and probate law. She has served on the board of Temple Beth Jacob in Redwood City, CA, and as legal counsel for a number of nonprofits, including the Center for Jewish Campus Life and the Community Working Group. Jennifer has a J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law and a B.A. from Stanford University. She joined The Art of Yoga Project's Board of Directors in February 2007.
Rebecca Bara
Rebecca Horsley Bara has been practicing and teaching yoga for over 10 years. Having seen yoga transform her life and the lives of so many around her, Rebecca is devoted not only to her own practice but also to teaching and sharing her knowledge with others. Rebecca has taught yoga to teen girls at the East Palo Alto Academy, a charter school in East Palo Alto, CA and was our Site Director for AYP for 3 years in Santa Clara. Rebecca loves teaching at-risk girls and seeing the impact yoga makes on their attitude and their lives. She is especially inspired by seeing girls from rival gangs practicing yoga together. "Yoga has a way of uniting these girls."
Married with four children (two teens), Rebecca has completed Teacher Training Levels I and II with master teacher Baron Baptiste in the power vinyasa yoga style. She also completed a 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher training at Avalon yoga studio in Palo Alto, where she studied asana, yoga theory, pranayama and meditation.
Shaluinn Fullove
Shaluinn is a Senior Product Marketing Manager at Google, Inc. and an Olympic hopeful marathoner who has been practicing yoga for over 10 years.
Shaluinn has over nine years experience in product marketing and sales operations in enterprise software, consumer internet and online advertising. In 2008, she was profiled in Fortune Magazine as one of “10 fascinating Googlers”. She is currently the Head of Small Business marketing for Google Apps where she has led the acquisition of over 1 million new small businesses to the Apps platform through online, direct, and awareness marketing.
In 2008, after overcoming thyroid cancer, Shaluinn qualified for and competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials in the marathon.
Shaluinn has a M.S. in Management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business where she was a Sloan Fellow, and a B.A. in American Studies from Stanford University. A new mom, Shaluinn and her husband welcomed their daughter into the world in April 2011. Shaluinn joined The Art of Yoga Project’s Board of Directors in 2011.
Amy Santullo
Amy is a yoga instructor and is actively involved in several organizations in Silicon Valley. At Downtown College Preparatory High School, a charter high school that prepares underachieving students for college success, Amy is an advisor and Chair of the College Scholarship Committee. Amy joined The Art of Yoga Project Board of Directors in February 2007. Amy has a Master’s Degree in Education Policy Analysis and Evaluation from Stanford University, an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, and is the mother of two children.
